Balsall Heath, Highgate and the City Centre.are about to get more cycle stands. The Birmingham Cycle Revolution consulted in 2018 on  cycle parking at locations  showing a strong demand.  BHIOP responded in support of the all the stands proposed. We are now assured that they “will be installed in early 2019″.

These will be short stay stands to lock your bike to, not sheltered or secured for long term use. There have been thefts, for example from outside the Moseley Road Baths. It can be argued that the odd bike is more vulnerable to thieves than a row of stands with cyclists coming and going.  Insurance against theft may be part of your household insurance.

Progress can be seen on the new cycleway being built up the centre of Bristol Road to the University, which BHIOP also supported. It is taking months to finish. It was formerly the tram lines and has therefore been available since the 1960s, so we can wait a little longer…. Spring is here and people want to cycle every day. Council site is HERE
