BHIOP was recently given a certificate in recognition of being a Walking Champion in Birmingham, at a ceremony on Wednesday 17th June. This was from the charity Living Streets, which we worked with to run a Community Street Audit. This identified barriers to pedestrians along the Moseley Road – we found plenty. The report of Living Streets with their recommendations was given to the City Council and some of the things in it may be implemented it seems. we shall watch for this, as pedestrians often feel like their space is being taken by everyone. BHIOP has also responded to a Council consultation about the future of advertising boards on the footway, and we asked that they do not block the way or the view to the detriment of people trying to walk in safety.
