Today, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Davey, visited to learn about the work of “Balsall Heath Is Our Planet”‘. His department has funded our LEAF programme of 12 energy savings projects, working with Sustainable Moseley and Kings Heath Transition Initiative. We used the money; 1) to identify opportunities for generating renewable energy, 2) to talk to residents about making their homes more energy efficient through the upcoming ‘Green Deal’.

Mr Davey went to a terraced house in Kings Heath that    Jericho Foundation have insulated to a high standard. The owners tell us it has held onto the heat really well in the recent cool snap, when others have had to put on the central heating. Mr Davey was very positive about all the social and environmental benefits of the work we have been doing. Great to be able to give a government minister some contact with energy saving efforts at the level of a neighbourhood.
